Thinking Outside the Bottle ... TechChampions Stockholm
Last on the tour this week for TechChampions 2015 - a city NEVER to be missed - Stockholm!
As always, the house was packed with some of the city's finest in tech (Hosted by local partner Synch Law) - from top entrepreneurs, investors, and big brands, and thanks to our global partners SoftLayer and Qualcomm Ventures.
Presenting their visions were 9 local HotShots:
TeliaSonera's Nils Granathsummed it up best: "There are a lot of 'startup' events out there, and many of them with a sort of, well, 'kindergarten' vibe. ... These were serious companies, looking for serious investment."
A lively discussion with panelists from Qualcomm Ventures (Jason Ball), Creandum (Sabina Wizander), MOOR (Kerstin Cooley), NASDAQ (Marie Parck), GP Bullhound (Per Lindtorp) and SynchLaw (Andreas Börjesson), taking "Stock" of Stockholm's innovation scene.
"There was some disagreement about the level of investment money available in Stockholm," said Kerstin Cooley of MOOR Capital, who describes the Swedish entrepreneur as "highly educated, productive, and with an excellent base in both technology and design."
She went on to say that, while it may be harder to get investment on a vision than in Silicon Valley, Sweden - because of it's managable size and superior mobile internet penetration - remains "the best testbed out there for digital products."
Markus Wulff, from Absolut was also there. When asked why a company like Absolut - perhaps the world's biggest brand for upscale vodka - would want to attend a Tech event, he explained that of the utmost importance, was the consumer experience, and that this event was an opportunity to see what was happening on the tech scene - for a non-traditional experience. In fact, Markus' mission at Absolut is to "connect the digital world with the real world." ... Now that's what I call thinking "Outside the Bottle!"
What stood out for Markus? Penny's uber cool glasses, and the electric motorboats of Candela Boats!
Topping it all off with networking, drinks, and nibbles, it was a fabulous night.
Next up? Paris!!!
